Cleaning Your Sink
First things first, you can’t clean a sink with a pile of dishes in the way! Clear out the sink and rinse away any lingering bits of last night’s dinner. Start by giving your sink a soapy scrub with a sponge and dish soap.
Next you’ll want to pat dry the excess water with a cloth or paper towel. Then, grab your multi-use baking soda and give your sink basin a generous sprinkle. Add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide and let the bubbling begin!
Finally, you can use a sponge or bristle brush to scrub all that grime away – circular motions work best! End it with a good rinse and repeat if necessary.
Cleaning Your Faucets
Now, you can’t clean your sink without giving some love to the faucets. No matter the metal, you should use soapy water and a sponge, bringing in the big dogs (an old toothbrush) for those hard to reach places.
Cleaning Your Drains & Garbage Disposal
The final step in a deep sink clean is to clear any debris from your drains and garbage disposal. No matter how well you clean your sink basin, if you forget the drains you’ll still be smelling last week’s salmon.
Luckily – most of the time all you have to do is pour! Start by generously dropping some baking soda down the drain. Follow this up with a slow trickle of white vinegar. After about 15 minutes, boil some water and pour the entire pot down the drain.
You can follow the same method with your garbage disposal but end the process by filling your disposal with a fresh lemon (sliced in half or in wedges) and running it till clear.
