About Topsfield Massachusetts
Topsfield has a long history in many important American events. The first piece of history to touch Topsfield was the Salem Witch Trials. Many of those accused of witchcraft resided within the town, and Rebecca Nurse, one of the well known convicted witches, had family living in the city. Then, in 1775, 110 Minute Men stopped their farm work and ran to answer the Lexington Alarm. These men later became a part of General Washington’s Continental Army during the remainder of the revolution. Many residents also participated in the Civil War.
