About Wakefield Massachusetts
First part of the town Lynn and then of Reading, the town of Wakefield was incorporated in 1812 as South Redding. In 1856, Cyrus Wakefield established The Rattan Works, a wcker furniture manufacturer. Over ten years later, Wakefield donated land and money to the current town hall, and the town was then renamed after him. Today Wakefield has around 25,00 residents.
