About Rowley Massachusetts
Rowley began as nothing more than a plantation for Reverend Ezekiel Rogers, but the spring following his arrival, the city was incorporated. The name came from the name of the city in England Reverend Rogers hailed from, and just as he had been in England 20 years prior, he became the pastor for Rowley. In the early half of the 1640s, construction began on a fulling mill and a grist mill. Rowley later became known for making hemp and flax cloth. Today, Rowley sits partially on the North Shore coast and has a population near 6,000.
